Life in DC

So far I have been loving this summer—my internship, the city, the weather—everything has been great. I’ve gotten to work on real, substantive projects at ABA ROLI like the comparative anti-corruption project, but I’ve also put in my time with more “intern-y” work such as the Judicial Reform Knowledge Management project and helping staff put together talking points for panel discussions. There is always something to work on, and I’m learning a lot about international rule of law work.

In addition to my work, it’s great to have so many chances to make connections and learn more about potential career paths. Every week there is a new networking opportunity, educational talk, or even happy hour with co-interns where I can learn about other people’s experiences and opportunities. While William & Mary is located close to DC and has a wonderful career services office, there is nothing like actually being in DC to take advantage of these opportunities!

Thanks to the holiday weekend, I’ll be heading to New York City for a few days to relax and enjoy myself. It’s nice to get a change of scenery once in a while!
